To many community members, the replacement of McDonald’s in Port Angeles, Wash. probably seemed like a straightforward “swap.” In reality, the redevelopment of the existing 1.3-acre, high-profile site was closer to starting from scratch. The project, which demolished the old building, included SCJ reworking most aspects of the site’s infrastructure including grading, sewer, water, and stormwater. SCJ also designed new parking, retaining walls, and landscaping. The construction resulted in a 5,155-square-foot McDonald’s restaurant with PlayPlace, associated parking lot and drive thru.
